Raddison Heights/Albert Park Community Wi-Fi

Welcome to one of the earliest community Wi-Fi networks on Earth! Back in 2001, community members of Raddison Heights and Albert Park banded together to create affordable and accessible wireless internet for neighbors and local businesses. Traya Net helped bring in the crucial backbone from MCI WorldCom, laying the foundations for this trailblazing project.

WestNet is a self-funded, non-profit organization founded and sustained by Abdou Traya. We do not receive any government or external funding; everything you see here is powered by the passion and dedication of local residents who continue to support and expand the network. Our mission is to keep growing together and ensure everyone in our community has reliable, high-speed wireless internet service.

How Does It Work?

The Raddison Heights/Albert Park Community Wi-Fi operates similarly to other WestNet services, but the heart of our network lies in local volunteerism and collaboration. We partner with residents and businesses who allow us to install low-profile antennas and routers on their property, creating a seamless mesh of coverage. This network is constantly evolving and upgrading thanks to the goodwill and contributions from community members.
